Juan Sandoval (1946 - 2021)

Juan Sandoval passed away on January 3rd, 2021.  Juan Sandoval amassed an important collection of Chicano art and prints, including the "Desert Triangle Print Carpeta."

Juan Sandoval was a big supporter and collector of some of the El Paso Desert Triangle artists, and even collected the Desert Triangle portfolio:

We dedicated the Ambos Lados International Print Exchange catalog to Juan Sandoval, as he spent a lot of time in Oaxaca collecting those artists as well.  The Ambos Lados International Print Exchange was organized by Horned Toad Prints from El Paso, and Taller Grafica Libre of Oaxaca.

Juan Sandoval recently left his art collection to Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, Texas.  Mexic-Arte honored him last year with the "Lifetime Achievement Award in Visual Arts."

Currently Mexic-Arte is showing Juan's collection in an exhibition called "Mexico, the Border and Beyond: Selections from the Juan Antonio Sandoval Jr. Collection."

Cristina Cardenas' print from the Desert Triangle is showing currently at Mexic-Arte exhibit of the Juan Sandoval collection:

Also Los Dos' print is currently showing at the Mexic-Arte Museum as part of Juan Sandoval's collection.  Pavel Acevedo sent me the two photos below, because his work (not the Desert Triangle print) is also in the Juan Sandoval exhibition:
