Contreras Gallery -- Tucson

This is how the prints look hung in the Contreras Gallery in Tucson, February 6th - 27th.

We had a great opening on Saturday, February 6th.  Also, check out the media and set up for the Tucson exhibition.

Art en Vivo -- Proper Printshop

Proper Printshop is now doing live printing on Thursday evenings in El Paso.

Update (June 23rd, 2016) -- Proper Printshop does Pecha Kucha!!

Proper Printshop pulled 6 print editions for our carpeta, by artists -- Raul Monarrez, Matthew Poe, Victor Muheddine, Tino Ortega, Nani Chacon, and Chris Bardey.  

After pulling Raul's print, they went down to Mexico City to learn and refine their silk screening techniques at Taller 75 Grados (where we had 10 print editions from our carpeta pulled).  There they learned about "Taller en Vida" workshops at Taller 75 Grados, and decided to start a program like that in El Paso.  We are looking forward to a whole series of wonderful serigraphs by more Southwest and US artists from the "Art en Vivo" series.

Taller en Vida

"Art in Vivo" is based on the "Taller en Vida" (Live Workshop) sessions by Taller 75 Grados in Mexico City. 

This was a series of live silk screening sessions between 2009 - 2013, where Maestro Arturo Negrete invited the public to bring their designs, and come in and silk screen them.

We are bringing Taller 75 Grados to the El Paso Museum of Art on April 14th, 2016 -- 6:30 - 8:30 PM, to do a live demonstration.  A "Taller en Vivo" in El Paso.  

They will also do demonstrations at Proper Printshop, and perhaps other locations in the El 

Paso/Juarez area.

Tucson opening at the Contreras Gallery

We had an opening in Tucson at the Contreras Gallery, on the First Saturday Art Walk, during the evening of February 6th.   Attendance was very good, probably in part because we advertised in print and on the radio.

"Ultimately, there was a catch with this gallery: the grand prints were made to move virtually. The prints were collaborated with an intense, online advancement called Augment El Paso, a virtual app that allows certain prints to move. The pieces would dance and transform on the phone screen, allowing viewers to observe the art in an entirely different perspective. The exhibit’s producer, Karl Whitaker, expressed sincere pride in these works.

 “I was able to gather these 30 artists for this,” Whitaker said. “I came across Augment El Paso and asked them if they were willing to work with my artists on this event. You can see more of their works on prints and other pieces at deserttriangle.com. We worked with them, and all of this was done specifically for these prints."
